  • July 15, Second MLB All Star Game, Threw a scoreless 15th inning, to earn the victory, as the AL beat the NL 4-3 in the longest game in the mid-summer classic´s history. This is the first victory for a Tampa Bay Rays pitcher in the All Star Game History.
  • July 06, Was elected by the players to appear in the All Star Game (His Second Appearance), He becomes just the third pitcher to be selected to the All-Star team after missing April with an injury; Charlie Hough (Texas, 1986) and Ewell Blackwell (Cincinnati, 1949) are the other two.
  • June 02, Named American League Pitcher of the month, posted a 5-1 record with a 1.22 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 37.0 innings of work in may, allowing five earned runs on 22 hits and 13 walks.

  • August 22, He became the all-time Rays strikeout leader, strikeout eight Texas Rangers.

  • June 22, Passed Sandy Koufax and put himself in the 22 spot in MLB history for most strikeouts by a left handed pitcher before his 23rd birthday

  • May 22, Named American League Player of the Week, after posting a 2-0 record and an 0.60 ERA for the week  

  • April 3, Opening Day Starting Pitcher (at Baltimore). At 22 years, was the youngest opening day starter sin Dwight Gooden with the Mets in 1986. He lost the decision
